Itinerary

Day 1: Land in Leh (11500 ft) . Acclimatisation. Overnight in Leh

The flight to Ladakh is absolutely scenic. Land in Leh in the morning. You get a birds-eye view of the entire city and the layers of snow-clad mountains . You will feel a drop in the temperature the minute you land at the Leh airport, which is also one of the highest airports in the world. Collect your bags and check in to your hotels.

Today’s day is extremely important for acclimatisation, so try to stay indoors as much as possible and try not to exert yourself. Drink plenty of fluids during the day to help you with acclimatisation and prepare yourself for upcoming adventure.

Note: If you are arriving early in the morning, breakfast can be arranged at the hotel itself at an additional cost.
Day 2: Within Leh Sightseeing. Visit Leh Palace, Shanti Stupa, Tsemo, Magnetic Hill, Hall Of Fame, Gurudwara Pathar Sahib & Sangam(confluence of Indus and Zanskar). Overnight in Leh

Leh, the capital of the Ladakh region, offers a variety of cultural and natural attractions:

Shanti Stupa is a white-domed Buddhist stupa on a hilltop in Chanspa, Leh. Built to promote world peace and commemorate 2500 years of Buddhism, it offers panoramic views, especially at sunrise and sunset.

The Hall of Fame is a museum maintained by the Indian Army, dedicated to soldiers who lost their lives in the Indo-Pak wars. It features exhibits on weapons, uniforms, and Ladakhi culture.

Gurudwara Pathar Sahib, located about 25 miles from Leh, is a revered Sikh temple known for its spiritual significance and miraculous stories associated with Guru Nanak Dev. Visitors can see a sacred rock with the impression of Guru Nanak’s back.

Magnetic Hill, near Leh, is a gravity hill where vehicles appear to defy gravity and move uphill. This optical illusion is created by the surrounding landscape.

Sangam is the confluence of the Zanskar and Indus rivers, a stunning natural site near Leh. The contrasting colors of the two merging rivers offer a breathtaking view, and it’s also popular for river rafting.

Optional Activity: River rafting in the Zanskar River provides an exhilarating adventure through deep gorges and scenic valleys, perfect for rafting enthusiasts.

Leh Palace, a 17th-century former royal palace, overlooks Leh and resembles the Potala Palace in Tibet. It offers a glimpse into the royal family’s history and panoramic views of the area.

Namgyal Tsemo Monastery, on a hilltop above Leh Palace, was founded in the 15th century. It houses a three-story high statue of Maitreya Buddha and ancient manuscripts, offering spectacular views of Leh.

Evening in Leh Market & Overnight in Leh

Leh Market is the bustling heart of Leh, filled with traditional and modern shops. It’s ideal for shopping local handicrafts, souvenirs, and experiencing local culture and cuisine.
Day 3: Leh (11500 ft) to Hunder, Nubra Valley (10000 ft) via Khardung La (17580 ft) & Diskit Monastery. Visit the sand dunes in Hunder. Overnight in Hunder

Starting from Leh at 11,500 ft, travel to Hunder at 10,000 ft. The journey takes you through Khardung La, one of the highest motorable roads in the world at 17,580 ft. Depart early from Leh to maximize your day.

After approximately two hours, reach Khardung La. Pause to take in the breathtaking views and capture some memorable photos. Continue the drive to Diskit Monastery, which takes another two to three hours. Diskit Monastery, the oldest and largest in the Nubra Valley, features a 106-foot statue of Maitreya Buddha. Spend some time exploring the monastery and enjoying the panoramic views of the Nubra Valley.

Proceed to Hunder, a 30-minute drive from Diskit Monastery. Hunder is renowned for its unique sand dunes set against the backdrop of rugged mountains. In the evening, visit the sand dunes, where you can see the distinctive double-humped Bactrian camels and enjoy an exhilarating ATV ride across the dunes.

Conclude the day by settling into your accommodation in Hunder for an overnight stay, surrounded by the serene desert landscape.
Day 4: Hunder (10000 ft) to Pangong (14200 ft). Overnight in Pangong

Today involves an exhilarating journey from Hunder at 10,000 ft to the stunning Pangong Lake at 14,200 ft via the scenic Shyok route. This route, known for its captivating views, winds along the Shyok River, treating travelers to Ladakh’s diverse landscapes of majestic mountains and serene valleys, offering a shorter and more scenic path compared to other routes.

Starting early from Hunder, the approximately 5-6 hour drive promises awe-inspiring vistas along the way. Keep an eye out for marmots, friendly inhabitants of these high-altitude regions, as you traverse through this picturesque terrain.

Upon reaching Pangong Lake, you’ll be mesmerized by its mesmerizing blue waters nestled amidst towering peaks. Spend the evening basking in the tranquil ambiance, capturing the breathtaking scenery, and unwinding by the lakeshore.

As you conclude the day, settle in for an overnight stay near Pangong Lake, immersing yourself in the pristine and serene environment of this high-altitude gem.

Before you retire for the night, don’t miss visiting the iconic “3 Idiots shooting point” at Spangmik near Pangong Lake. This spot gained fame after being featured in the Bollywood movie “3 Idiots” and offers a picturesque backdrop for some memorable photographs, adding a touch of cinematic charm to your Ladakh adventure.
Day 5: Pangong (14200 ft) to Tso Moriri (14900 ft). Overnight in Karzok, Tsomoriri)

Start your day with a final glimpse of the breathtaking Pangong Lake, renowned for its changing hues and serene surroundings. Embark on a scenic drive towards Tso Moriri, another stunning high-altitude lake

Upon reaching Tso Moriri, you will be greeted by the lake’s tranquil beauty, surrounded by towering peaks and a sense of profound peace. The lake’s crystal-clear waters, reflecting the sky and mountains, create a mesmerizing sight, especially during sunset.

Settle into your accommodation near Tso Moriri and enjoy the serene atmosphere. Spend the evening taking leisurely walks along the lakeshore, absorbing the tranquil environment, or engaging with the local nomadic culture. Overnight stay at Tso Moriri, allowing you to fully appreciate the untouched beauty and solitude of this remote Himalayan gem.
Day 6: Tso Moriri (14900 ft) to Leh (11500 ft) via puga, Tso kar and Taglang La (17500 ft). En route visit Thiksey, Shey & Hemis. Overnight in Leh

Departing from the serene shores of Tso Moriri, we set out on a drive that takes us through some of the region’s most captivating landscapes. Our route leads us through the scenic villages of Puga, known of its hot springs and unique landscape and Tso Kar, a picturesque saltwater lake surrounded by barren plains and snow-capped peaks.

We cross Taglang La, one of the world’s highest motorable passes at an altitude of approximately 17,582 feet.

En route to Leh, make a stop at Thiksey Monaster a beautiful Tibetan Buddhist monastery perched atop a hill. Explore the monastery’s architecture and witness the monks going about their daily routines.

You can also visit Shey Palace, a historic site that once served as the summer retreat for the kings of Ladakh. Admire the palace’s ancient artifacts and take in the panoramic views of the surrounding landscape.

Or take a detour to Hemis Monastery, the largest and wealthiest monastery in Ladakh

Finally, return to Leh and enjoy your last evening in Leh market
Day 7: Fly out of Leh
